Educational purpose

Eye Color Rarity is an educational reference about human eye color. Content is produced for general information. It is not medical advice, genetic counseling or an eye examination, and it has not been reviewed by a medical professional. It cannot replace consultation with qualified professionals.

About our statistics

  • Prevalence figures are estimates. No global census of eye color exists. Worldwide numbers on this site synthesize published surveys and secondary sources, and are presented with ranges and confidence labels.
  • Point estimates are editorial judgments. They sit inside a published uncertainty range; treat the range — not the point — as the figure.
  • Categories are ambiguous in the underlying data. Colors such as hazel, amber, and gray are classified inconsistently across surveys. Our methodology page lists every known limitation.

Eye health

Gradual changes in eye color across years can be normal; sudden change, change in only one eye, discomfort, or vision changes can be signs of conditions that need prompt attention. If any of these apply to you, see an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Do not use this site to make health decisions.

External sources

We cite organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, MedlinePlus, and peer-reviewed journals because we believe claims should be checkable. Inclusion of a source does not imply that organization endorses this site, and we are not responsible for the content of external pages.

No professional relationship

Using this site, or contacting us, does not create any doctor–patient, counseling, or other professional relationship.
